Our weekend w/ Gammi and Pops

We spent an entire, uninterrupted Father's Day wknd. in Broken Arrow w/ Mom and Dad. We didn't even tell many people that we were coming in town since we're always torn in so many directions trying to see (just a fraction of) the people that we want and need to see. Therefore, we just got to relax and spend time together. Patrick and I can't remember the last time that we got to spend actual Father's Day in OK w/ my Dad, so it was pretty special getting to be there this yr.

On Friday night, I surprised the beautiful girls that I used to baby-sit so many Summers (Hannah and Haven Scrimsher) as their high school color guard performed their '2010 Summer Dance Project' @ the BAHS PAC. It was an Avatar theme and set to the music from the hit new release Avatar. It was AWESOME! And it was done almost completely in the dark w/ glow bands around their neck/wrists/ankles. They did a fantastic job and I was very happy that I got to see them perform again. I love them both very, very much and I can't believe that they're BOTH in the BA Pride (marching band/color guard) now!





On Saturday, Kennedy, Mom and I went to the farmer's market downtown BA. Mom had been wanting to go for some time, but never had a free Sat. morning to be able to do so. She had already bought a fresh pineapple, blueberries, ears of corn, cherries and zucchini b/f we arrived. And we even brought a yummy watermelon w/ us. But, we found some lovely squash, red potatoes and fresh green beans @ the market that we couldn't pass up! Kennedy really enjoyed getting to see what all the farmers brought to sell and she wanted us get a little bit of everything I think! And OBVIOUSLY...we ate fresh, healthy fruits and veggies ALL wknd. long! And if you know me well @ ALL...you KNOW that I was just ELATED! SO DELICIOUS! And our kids just gobbled it all up too!





It was too hot to do much around town later on Sat., so we resorted to some water play in the yard. We took our sprinkler and slip 'n slide w/ us, and the kids had a big time as you can imagine! They esp. loved when we would hurl them down the slip 'n slide as hard as we could and they would land in the pool of water @ the end. : ) Too fun!













Sunday, we were able to attend my home church on Father's Day w/ my parents. And after the kids' naps, we spent some more time outside playing w/ bubbles and watering flowers. Oh the simple things in life ~ how I love them!









It was a WONDERFUL wknd. and we can't wait to do it again!

A Summer full of fishin'!

We have enjoyed several fishing trips this Summer, but some have been exclusively Daddy/daughter trips. We like to go when Patrick gets home from work since there is usually still a good amt. of daylight left. Plus, we get to watch beautiful sunsets while we're there. Even while Ayan was here for a few days this week, Uncle Patrick took the "big kids" fishing w/ him. That was pretty special for them. : )
Kennedy certainly enjoys the one-on-one time w/ her Daddy. And even though she gets bored w/ the whole "process of fishing" and the patience involved quite often...she just loves watching Patrick clean them afterwards. Crazy, I know.

I love watching their relationship grow in new and different ways the older she gets. Be still my heart...

10 year reunion

We had Patrick's 10 year high school reunion recently and it went surprisingly well. : ) There wasn't a whole lot to it except a family day @ the park in Huntsville and a dinner later that evening @ a restaurant in Fayetteville. However, I got to meet some people that I've heard stories a/b for the past 9 years (since we started dating in college) and meet many others who were genuinely excited to see Patrick again and meet our family. He graduated w/ a class of 113, but there were only a shocking 25-30 that attended the reunion. Some just came to the park, yet new ones showed up for dinner.



Kennedy and Will enjoyed the steamy HOT day @ the park and getting to meet some other kids as well. Kennedy conquered the tires that she was too small to even attempt last time we were @ this park, and Will had a ball throwing rocks when he wasn't climbing up the slide(s). : )
Kennedy was pretty funny that day as she kept saying, "These are Daddy's old friends" and "Are we going to go meet more of Daddy's friends now?". Ha! I think she was a little confused as to WHY she didn't know a single one of the people (or kids) there. : )

After the park, we ran by Patrick's parents' house in HV to cool off and get the kids down for a much-needed nap. Will had even missed his am nap due to the reunion, so he was completely exhausted. Patrick's Mom watched the kids for us for a few hours that evening while we met back up w/ everyone for dinner (which was the 2nd part of the reunion-where only spouses were invited). There, I was able to meet a sweet, Christian girl who was in Huntsville's band w/ Patrick all through h.s. We sat w/ her and her husband the entire time @ the pizza place and really enjoyed getting to know so much a/b each other! Too bad they don't live close anymore! We 'bowed out gracefully' after dinner as almost everyone else continued their "party" down on Dickson St.
Wow. Some people will never grow up.

Overall, it was a good experience and I was happy to put faces w/ names finally. And, Patrick really enjoyed getting to introduce the kids to everyone.












Next comes my reunion now. ...(sigh). : )
