LIFELINE ~ Fall 2010 (Part 2)

* We also had a visit from a very special friend and believer from South Korea last semester! Yoo Jeong (who many have heard a/b before) was an international student @ the U of A and was previously involved in Lifeline. After growing up in a Buddhist household her entire life, she learned, grew, and accepted Christ as her personal Savior while still in the states. What an answered prayer it was! We loved every minute of her visit back "home" w/ us and the students had lots of fun catching up to do. On this particular evening, our pastor and his family (who were her "home away from home" while @ the U of A) planned a get-together @ a park near campus so the whole group could spend some more time w/ Yoo Jeong b/f she returned to Korea. We miss her and love her so much. Please cover this young lady in prayer as she was just accepted to medical school and is balancing the questioning of her faith on a daily basis.







* For this year's "Destination Unknown", we took the unsuspecting students to an off-campus location in Fayetteville. We had worship and Bible study @ a gorgeous, tucked away, little chapel which made for a beautiful, uninterrupted night of praise together. God was definitely glorified that evening and it was great to have a change of scenery as well.










* Here are just some pictures of our mid-week Bible study on campus. We met majority of the Fall semester in one of the dance studios in the HPER bldg. on campus, which is the centrally located student reaction center. It provides almost anything the students could want to do as far as running, racquetball, basketball, gymnastics, swimming/diving, karate, basketball, dance, aerobics and more. Since we haven't ever had a bldg. on campus, our group is more than flexible to meet @ a central location on campus where other students "do life" together. We have met outside under a pavilion, in the student union, in the business building (@ the beginning of the Fall sem.), and now in the HPER bldg. We were even referred to once as the "nomadic" student ministry on campus b/c we're honestly up for anything and move often to find the best place to meet for our size group.






* Dinner and discussion w/ our LTG (Life Transformation Group/small group) leaders and co-leaders @ our house... The BEST deer chili and cheesy, beefy, cornbread casserole!





* We had an awesome Fall camping trip out @ one of our best friend's grandfather's property in OK. It is such a gorgeous plot of land and the weather was divine ALL wknd.! We cooked together, played sports all wknd., and rode the 4-wheeler all over the property...and it was perfect. However, the greatest part of the wknd. was the in-depth conversations we were able to have w/ each student who attended. Everyone REALLY lets their guard down while relaxing in the outdoors, and it allowed for some very raw moments of worship together. We sang praises every evening under the stars while surrounding the camp fire. And we were blessed to be led in worship by a friend of ours who drove up from South AR just to do music for the group all wknd. We learned a lot and built some crazy unity among our group. The students were able to fully relax (much needed for them) mid-semester...which was more than worth it in and of itself. So thankful for that wknd...

Oh...and our dogs LOVED it! The loved the attention and being able to run free all wknd.!
















* Ladies'/guys' night...




* We also planned our first ever free Thanksgiving meal this past Nov. We had food enough to feed 150 people and had very gracious, giving, local churches help provide the dishes. It was a neat opportunity to meat lots of new faces and build relationships w/ them. The other 2 staff members from our church (aka-sponsoring church) came and brought their families also. I really enjoyed decorating the tables up a little and making sure all of the details were taken care of for such a large event. And the Lord blessed as always that evening.




















* We have always looked for opportunities to invite the students over to the house b/c of how much interest they express in getting off campus on a regular basis. So, on a big Razorback 'away' game day...we invited them over without thought. And every time they're over, there's literally someone sitting in every square foot of space in our living rm. : ) One of the guys has brought his big, flat screen t.v. over for the past 2 yrs. to add to the viewing pleasure as well. Such fun days/nights w/ them!








* Since the guys had man'stache night late in the semester (where they shaved their beards from "No Shave November" and only left these ugly mustaches on their faces)...some of the ladies had the idea to make mustaches as well @ our house. Kennedy got to hang out for this particular night w/ the gals and loved this idea! Haha. This was on another ladies'/guys' night...






Everything involved in these 2 LIFELINE posts probably only scratches the surface of everything that the semester entailed...but how many more pictures do you think I can take people?! : ) Glad you made it through the catch-up of our incredible Fall semester!
