We spent a night @ my parents' house a couple of weeks b/f Christmas and got to attend my home church's Christmas program that Saturday. It was stinkin' funny! They worked up a modernized version of the Christmas story w/ a Western spin, set in the little town of Bethlehem...Wyoming. : )
It was definitely an unconventional telling of the ageless story of Jesus' birth ~ complete w/ a six-gun totin' masked man dressed in white as the angel Gabriel, a square dance or two, a rowdy bunch of lonesome cowboys playing the part of the shepherds, and stick-horse riding angels that become a heavenly posse (which my Mommy-dearest was a part of...haha!!!).
It was QUITE an entertaining and humorous taste of the Old West, but the message of Christmas was LOUD and CLEAR. We were happy to get to go! Dad did such a great job painting all of the signs/banners on the set, and Mom/Dad both did an excellent job fulfilling the roles that they were asked to play!
