During the month of Jan. we experienced one of the worst ice storms that NWA (& beyond) have had in a long time! The bad weather started Mon. on my way home from a prenatal appt., our power went out Tues. morning, and we went to a hotel later that night. Our family ended up talking us into staying 2 nights @ the hotel b/c our neighborhood was still w/out power & we couldn't be more thankful! Patrick was able to get some work done on his computer from the hotel rm., I got to put my feet up a little & not watch the other kiddos, and K basically treated it like it was an unusual mini-vacation. We had a hard time finding ANYONE w/ power who we even COULD HAVE stayed w/. It was insane!
We saved almost all of our food from the fridge/freezer by putting it in ice chests on our front porch. I even took advantage of having all of the food out of the fridge to do a thorough cleaning of the entire fridge. Power was off and on several times around town for many days, but we were just SO thankful that the Lord restored power to our house earlier than He could have. Some people we knew went 10 days to 2 full wks. w/out it, operating only by generators.
Here is a slideshow of some of the pics we took during the crazy wk. And these certainly don't do any of the damage justice! There is SO MUCH cleaning up to do around town! It will definitely never look the same again, that's for sure!
